Road Cut T-Patch Details

A. When cutting any County road that has been installed for more than 5 years, APWA Plan #255 from the 2012 Edition shall apply.  The Developer, Contractor or Permittee shall contact the County Inspector and verify the required standard prior to cutting the asphalt.

B. When cutting any County road that is less than 5 years old or has received an overlay within 5 years, APWA Plan # 255 from the 2017 Edition shall apply. The Developer, Contractor or Permittee shall contact the County Inspector and verify the required standard prior to cutting the asphalt.

C. An asphalt T-Patch is not allowed to be placed inside the boundaries of an existing T-Patch. The Developer, Contractor or Permittee shall extend the second cut of the new asphalt T-Patch to match the edge of the existing T-Patch when it is greater than the required second cut detailed in requirements A & B. When the existing T-Patch has an edge that is less than the required second cut detailed in standards A & B, the distance of the second cut shall apply just as long as whichever distance that is greater is met.

D. All T-Patches must be at a 90 degree angle to center line and perpendicular to curb and gutter, square or rectangle shape required. All asphalt edges shall be a minimum of 2 feet from any manhole, valve, or monument located in road-way.

Street Signs

All signs shall be a minimum of High Intensity Prismatic (HIP) reflective sheeting with matching components. A sticker shall be placed on the back of the sign detailing when the sign was made and by what company. Manufacturer’s warranty is seven years on sheeting. All warning and regulatory signs shall meet MUTCD requirement based on speed of road. Street name/address signs shall be placed on 30” x 8” blanks and must not exceed 14 characters in length. Address sign letters shall be a minimum of 4” in height and 6” if possible. Follow 2A-2 of the MUTCD for minimum sign heights and offsets. Signs shall be placed on Telespar post with Telespar anchors at 30” depth. Slip base anchor and pole shall be installed when signs combined with more than 1296 sq inches are placed on one pole.
